The Brazilian Bárbara Calypso will offer a concert on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Equipo Para. Calypso is one of the most interesting voices on the Canarian music scene, where she currently resides.
He won first prize in the Promusic Association’s Laguna Music Video Contest. He has colored with important musicians from the Canary Islands jazz scene. He had the collaboration of Kike Perdomo for the first single “Nobody Can Stop Me” (2021); with Daniele Catalucci and Duncan Tucano with «Mariposa» (2022) and «Bluebird» (2021) or Carlos Pérez for «Tierra y Fuego» (2022).
He has performed in some of the most important halls, theaters and cultural centers of the archipelago: World Music Sessions (Tenerife), Up&Down Festival (Puerto de la Cruz), Música for Ukraina (Tenerife) or Festival Tropicalia (Tenerife).
He began his participation in the Nicotine Swing project, as a singer and guitarist on the stages of: Festival Jazz Ría (Galicia), Club Clavicémbalo (Galicia) and Festival Calufo (Fuerteventura).
He has just recorded his first LP, with a mixture of new neosoul, funky, bossa nova and reggae songs, and the video clip «Tierra y fuego» recently premiered at Sofar Sound.
